Més Thai!!

... sí, más palabras en thailandés......... por qué por fin pude "pillar" una que desde el principio me gustó!!

Tal y como comenté en la entrada del 7 de septiembre... estaba a la espera de poder hacer esta foto, competencia de la primera!
Si sólo te mueves por el centro de Bangkok, la mayoría de letreros están en inglés, o aunque en thailandés, por lo menos sí traducidos....... tienes que salirte del centro o de la ciudad para encontrar rótulos sólo en thailandès........... uuffff, yo todavía no sé leerlos, pero en una semana - próximo lunes! - empiezo a aprender la escritura!! Socoorrooo!!!!!
Bueno, la buena noticia es que por lo menos, en cuestión del idioma hablado... aunque no dominado, sí lo tengo controlado!!! Lo utilizo tanto como puedo con taxistas, en tiendas, en el hotel......

La verdad es que lo thailandeses en general, cuando ven que estás intentando hablar su idioma - cosa que no ocurre a menudo pues la mayoría de "farangs" (*) esperan que les hablen en inglés!! - te ayudan, corrigen, enseñan nuevas palabras y comentan tal y como lo dicen ellos, en la calle..... es súper divertido, enriquecedor (pues es la forma de conocerles!) y alentador............
Ah! La foto del "No Smoking" la veo cada día al hacer mi café antes de clase!!


And here it is!! The concurrence of the Thai picture shown in the entry of 7th Sept.! You cannot "catch" these things in the Centre of Bangkok, as most is in English! ... so yo need to go to the outskirts or totally out of the city. I still cannot read them, but in a week I'll begin to learn the writing..... HELP!!!
Well... I must say that I have the speaking language quite under control, though still not dominated... but I do speak in Thai with taxi drivers, at shops and any possible place, which is the way to get to them, of course...... and Thais do really try to help when they see a "farang" (*) making efforts to speak their language! They help, correct and give new words... funny and encouraging!!
Oh! I see the "No Smoking" while my everyday coffee before class!!



Por cierto... (*) "farang" es como conocen en Asia a los Europeos y Americanos....... curiosamente viene de la palabra "français" = francés!! ... pues fueron los franceses los primeros europeos en llegar a esta tierra, aunque no la colonizaron, pero a los no-asiáticos nos siguen llamando "farangs", que no tiene en ningún momento el tono despectivo que puede aparecer en la palabra "guiri"!!!!


By the way... (*) "farang" is how non-Asiatics are known here and it comes from the word "français" = French!! ... as the French were the first European to appear in this land, though did never colonize it!!!
