Llevábamos tiempo preguntando e intentando averiguar qué playa más cercana a Bangkok es suficientemente agradable como para ponerla en nuestra lista de sitios a los que escaparse un fin de semana en que necesitemos descansar y desconectar de la gran ciudad......
Nos habían hablado tanto de una población al sud-este de Bangkok, Rayong - en "tierra firme" - y de la pequeña isla que tiene delante - Koh Samed -, que teníamos ganas de acercarnos un fin de semana para "inspeccionar"..........Aprovechando la visita de un colaborador de Jordi - que llegó de Catalunya el martes 18 y ha estado aquí una semanita - el viernes pasado después del trabajo cogimos al chófer... bueno, nos cogió él a nosotros! y después de 2 horas y media llegamos a destino para pasar el FinDe....... llegamos de noche!
Al día siguiente - sábado - lo primero fue coger el "ferry" para pasar el día en la isla........
Y al llegar a la isla, lo primero fue coger un taxi - pues no hay otro transporte! - justo al lad
o de "la" gasolinera!!!

... Koh Samed es una isla de unos 30 kilómetros de largo y 7 de ancho, con una única carretera llena de baches y polvo, que no pueden arreglar por ser la isla un Parque Nacional - no pueden hacer ninguna acción en ella!!
We have been looking for a place where to "scape" on those weekends we can no longer stand the city and need a rest and relax... we were told about Rayong and Koh Samed, 2 1/2 hours drive south-east from Bangkok, so there we went last weekend - together with a colleague of Jordi who came from Catalonia on that week - to "investigate" whether it was nice enough for us..........
We arrived late, dark night, and on the next day - Saturday - we took the "ferry" to spend the day on the island... first thing there, take a taxi which was next to "the" petrol station!!!!Koh Samed is a small island 30 kms long and 7 wide, with an only road full of holes and dust... but they cannot ammend it as it is a National Park and nothing can be touched!!!
El pasado 4 de agosto os hablé de Bang Saen, que está más cerca de Bangkok, pero como en 
muchas playas de Thailandia, allí la marea baja deja pequeñas piedras y algas, y la alta no deja un agua transparente... pero Rayong - Koh Samed ha sido sorprendentemente diferente!!!!!! Nos hemos encontrado con playas tranquilas, de arena blanca y agua transparente... IDEAL!!!
Last 4th August I showed you Bang Saen, which is closer to Bangkok, but as many of the beaches we've seen in Thailand, low tides leave many little rocks & seaweed and high ones no clear water, but Rayong - Koh Samed showed to have really quiet beaches with white sand and transparent water... IDEAL!!!
Paseando por las distintas playas a las que nos fue llevando el taxi, encontramos hoteles en cada una de ellas... de precios totalmente dispares!! Desde 800Bahts (19€) la noche, hasta 8.000 (190€!)!!!
En las más económicas... la comida también lo era! Es habitual encontrar hombres y/o mujeres que cargan con cestas en las que llevan los ingredientes para una pollo a la brasa - con la brasa incluida! - y acompañamiento de verduras, que preparan al instante en la misma arena...........
Visiting the different beaches where the taxi brought us, we found hotels in each of them but with really different prices! From 800Bahts (19€) to 8.000 (190€) the night!!!!
In the cheapest ones you could find really cheap food... people carrying a kind of baskets with coaled chicken and vegetables, which were freshly prepared at the beach when required.........
Y claro, el olor a comida nos dio hambre!!! ... después de un buen baño 
en agua clara y algo fresca (comparada con la temperatura cálida habitual de las aguas en esta zona!), nos pedimos unas cervecitas frescas y algo de comer!!!!!!!!!!
And, of course, with the smell of food we got hungry!!! After having a bath in the clear water - cooler than normal in these seas! - we ordered fresh beer and tasty food!!!!!

erra firme... en Rayong pudimos ver una mercadillo donde ofrecían cortinas hechas con conchas de varios tamaños y colores, formando un arco como puerta u ofreciendo figuras varias.... también collares y brazaletes de caracolas y seres marinos!!
And at dusk, back to main land... in Rayong we could visit a night market which offered gorgeous curtains made of shells of different colours and sizes showing arcs as doors or several forms and drawings.....

Al día siguiente - domingo - antes de que el chófer viniera a recogernos, dimos un paseo por la playa... a las 08:00 de la mañana el sol ya pica y parece mediodía!!
Entre las curiosidades que vimos, esta secuencia de una persona anciana caminando por la playa a la búsqueda de...?? ...... no sabemos!!??? pero se sentó en el agua a escarvar, totalmente vestida ............

Some curiosities... an old person walking on the beach and then entering into the water - completely dressed! - to look for... we do not really know what!!???
También un servicio de masajes en plena playa y unas chicas bañandose... también vestidas!! seguramente para evitar el sol, pues a los thailandeses no les gusta mucho la playa y menos cuando el sol aprieta.....
We also saw a massage service on the beach and some girls bathing - also dressed! Well... it is known that Thais do not like the beach that much, specially when the sun is too high.......
... bueno, en conjunto, todo muy positivo!!!!!
El paseo matinal fue el final ideal para un par de días en donde las cenas eran al aire libre y el fresco de la noche te dejaba dormir sin aire acondicionado... ya os he comentado en otras ocasiones, que esto es de muuuuucho agradecer aquí!!!

The morning walk was the ideal final for a couple of days in which we had dinner outdoors and we could sleep with no air conditioning... and as I've mentioned several times, we much appreciate it!!!
